Yesterday the weather was good and my hubby and I decided to head to the coast for my birthday. Just a day trip. We chose to go to Tillamook.
We went to the Cheese Factory. We hadn’t been since they remodeled, so it was fun to see the changes. It is a fun spot to check out. For me, Tillamook cheddar cheese is the best!! Don’t forget to have some of their ice cream!! They have a lot of flavors, it was hard to pick, I narrowed it down to two flavors. Marion Berry Pie was the winner, it was yummy!!
Tillamook has Barn Quilts. They have lots of them downtown on businesses. These you can spot while exploring downtown. They also have a driving tour. It’s fun to see the large barn quilts on working farms. There is a map for a self guided tour. You can find it online or in paper form. They have done a great job of sharing the story of each farm along with a picture of the Barn Quilt that each farm has. We also stumbled onto the Latimer Quilt & Textile Center. It is housed in an old school. We didn’t take the tour yesterday. I’m saving that for a day out with my youngest daughter! of my three daughters, Shirley, is my co crafter, and I think she would appreciate a trip to the textile center the most. The lady who greeted us said if we call a few days ahead of our visit they will do a bed turning for us at no extra charge. https://www.latimerquiltandtextile.com/
After exploring Tillamook we headed to Pacific City to walk on the beach. Since it was Thursday we found a fairly empty beach. Yeah!! Today while writing this post I was going to tell you about Haystack Rock. I did a quick google search to make sure I had the right name of the rock, only to find out that there are actually three rocks off the Oregon coast that have the same name!! I knew about the one in Cannon Beach and the one at Pacific City, but I didn’t know about the one in Bandon……. ROAD TRIP!! lol Any excuse to go to the beach.
